JAMF Management System
ISD 317 utilized the Casper Suite to manage iPads this year. With this program, I was able to monitor applications students had downloaded on their device. Through this program, we were also able to push apps out to groups of devices that we had previously set up as managed applications. Apps that were pushed out went into the "Self Service" app on student iPads and students could download apps with the click of a button. With Casper, the district can control which components we wanted students to have access to (e.g. app store, iTunes, FaceTime).
IXL is an internet based program focusing on grade level benchmarks. Students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade utilized this program to become proficient in areas that they needed extra help. I was in charge of setting students up and maintaining accurate records and class assignments.
I incorporated Schoology into my Media Skills class to teach them the fundamentals of using this program to retrieve and turn in assignments. One of the first projects that students created was a collage about themselves sharing personal information when we were reviewing information that was safe to share and information that should never be shared online. Schoology allows students to utilize their skills to perform assignments at their own level. It encourages students to participate without having to feel embarrassed for sharing in front of the class. It gave students some ownership in making sure their assignments were turned in. Students could ask and answer questions anytime during the day or night and get answers using the messaging system. Below are some student examples of collages created using Ribbet, Tagxedo, and Wordle.
